04th January 2012 AEG POWERTOOLS Introduces PRO Lithium-ion technology AEG Powertools are proud to announce its second generation of cordless technology; PRO LITHIUM-ION. The revolutionary new battery technology is 100% backward compatible with past and present AEG power tools. Answering to user demands for increased runtime, durability, ergonomics and ease of use, the new AEG Powertools PRO LITHIUM-ION system offers optimum performance on all levels. AEG PRO LITHIUM-ION technology with be available in 3.0ah and 1.5ah variations in each battery voltage platform. Maximum runtime is offered on the 3.0ah variations and compact, lightweight performance from the 1.5ah battery. The two battery variations allow the user to trade between size, weight and runtime depending on the chosen application. The core benefits of PRO LITHIUM-ION technology are built on the foundations of triple protection. Triple protection protects the battery cells from 3 key elements; over heating, over loading and over or under charging. Thermal monitoring monitors the battery temperature providing precise thermal overloading protection. Over current monitoring ensures that the cells are not over-loaded with current draw during demanding applications, this protects both the tool and the battery cells systematically. The intelligent battery electronics prevent the battery from being over or under charged increasing cell performance and life expectancy. The battery benefits from a robust, compact housing design with strategic rubber over-mouldings to withstand jobsite use and everyday impacts. An integrated cell frame holds the cells securely within the housing for added protection against vibrations and user drops. The cells are double spot welded for internal stability and to prolong the batteries life. An on board fuel gauge indicates the battery's remaining charge helping the user manage run time during applications. The PRO LITHIUM-ION slide pack design with recessed terminals helps maintain tool and battery connection and reduce the risk or shorting the battery during transport. Battery protection is key throughout the PRO LITHIUM-ION system with added safety features in the new PRO LITHIUM-ION intelligent charger. The charger analyses the battery's temperature and status and only begins charging when safe to do so prolonging the battery's life. Clear on board indicators denote charging processes, battery evaluations, any defects in the battery itself and temperature concerns, ultimately protecting the battery cells life and performance. PRO LITHIUM-ION technology guarantees users receive more run-time, longer life and overall more productivity.
